Look at the digital device you are using right now to read these words and scroll through the works selected for you this month. The screen may look perfectly flat but the interface is designed to trigger mechanisms in your mind that make it feels as if it was tridimensional. The disposition of the windows and tabs creates a geological environment; your interactions affect how deep the digital canyon of your screen is. Every time you open a new window, the others underneath it go deeper and deeper generating ravines, pointed peaks and plateaus. It is the user’s needs and organisation strategy that affect the landscape of the desktop which becomes a map to inhabit.</br>
The works selected reflect on our use of digital devices in a way that reminds the approach of geologists, exploring and mapping what constitutes our spatial and temporal experience of digital technology. It’s not only a certain fascination for our digitally structured habits that these works share together, but also the push to look at how these change over time, as if they were samples dug in the deepest and most remote angles of the planet.
