The Parisian artist duo fleuryfontaine, formed by Galdric Fleury and Antoine Fontaine, questions the interactions between man and his environment by making information and communication technologies their field of experimentation. The restitution of his work takes the form of installations, performances and digitally generated images.
” fleuryfontaine does the archaeology of the cybernetic moment to observe “the passage from modernity to algorithmic governance”. The theory of knowledge, allied to that of Capital, is expressed here through the metaphor of liquidity, a fantasy shared by teenagers, engineers and preachers of a world without losses and without borders that is constantly being regenerated”.
Title: Still lifes
Description: Still lifes is a space made of 6 rooms that combines two simulations of the reality, both derive from algebra and geometry. Perspective, materialized by the computer simulated space itself and cybernetic, symbolized here by the drawings on the walls showing one frame of John Conway’s Game Of life.
The Game of Life is the famous cellular automation that simulates bacteriological life on a computer, with simple rules given to a grid of pixels. Here, instead of taking place in the two dimensional space of the screen, the program extends in the third dimension of the simulated perspective wrapped in a riad like space organized around a central courtyard where you can watch the stars.
