JORGE CASTRO
Born in 1967, Jorge Castro aka Fisternni, has been working in electronic arts since 1994. During his years of residence in the United States, he obtained a Master’s degree in Digital Arts at the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Under his own name or under his alias Fisternni, he has participated in shows, festivals, biennials and exhibitions of experimental music and visual arts in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, USA, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany and Hong Kong. Since 2002 he has released material on CD and DVD through his own record label “Manipulatto”, and also on netlabels such as Audiovisuals, Audiovisuals and Audiovisuals.
He was coordinator of the postgraduate course in new media at the Blas Pascal University in 2007. He was also curator of the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Chateau Carreras, in the city of Córdoba 2010, winner of the International Curatorial Scholarship of the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation (Colombia) Bogotá 2011, he is also an outstanding cultural manager and event producer. He has brought to his city renowned international artists such as Alva Noto, Byetone, Jacob Kirkegaard, Pink Twins, Zbigniew Karkowski, the Spezialmaterial collective and others.since 2010 Jorge Castro runs La Cúpula, an art gallery and medialab, where he regularly hosts exhibitions, workshops and concerts. He also currently directs the netlabel Sudamérica Electrónica, works as an associate curator at the Genaro Perez Museum and organises the annual regional experimental music festival Santo Noise.
